From 23 August until 11 October, Noorderlicht returns with DATA RUSH to the Old Sugar Factory in Groningen for the 22nd Noorderlicht International Photofestival.

In the main exhibition DATA RUSH, internationally renowned photographers and multimedia artists take stock of the digital era. We surround ourselves with virtual networks, but to what extent do we still have control over our data? DATA RUSH is coupled with two sideline exhibitions and an in-depth programme focusing on the theme of privacy and surveillance.

Noorderlicht is a many-faceted and international platform, originally only for documentary photography, but now for any photographer who has a good story to tell. With a sharp eye for new developments, but averse to trends and hype, the attention is devoted to the photography of the world and to the world of photography. Noorderlicht does  this by organising an annual photography festival, programming exhibitions in their photo gallery, organising photographic commissions and arranging discussions, lectures and masterclasses. Noorderlicht provides an educational programme, and also publishes exceptional catalogues and photo books. Their exhibitions tour worldwide, and have been seen in the United States, Syria, Australia, Indonesia and other countries.
