My Kind of New Year
Happy New Year from Groningen!
Happy new year everyone! So, how was your new year’s eve celebration. Great ha!
While I am far away from home, I was thinking to have different celebration.
Thinking to fly to New York for ball drop countdown → Visa problem!
What about GMT time zone of countdown in London → Visa problem!
Too tired of thinking new destination, and too expensive ticket for random destination, even nearby places, I decided to have new year celebration in this lovely city. Since Christmas holiday it was visible the citizens of Groningen has decreased significantly, specially the international people :). So I just hoped to have great time here. My friend found youtube video of last year’s Groningen new year fireworks in Grote Markt, in fact it’s very nice.
So me and friends headed to Grote Markt, and it is already some kind of regular celebration here. Music from nearby club, many people gathered and danced. It was like mass party (you have to bring your own drinks though :P)

randomly international
So in case you have to stay in Groningen for new year, because you don’t like traveling, or broke out to buy travel accommodation, or (this is pathetic, but true story) having exams right away after new year, Groningen NYE celebration is not bad at all!
Ps. Thanks Rangga for the photos!
