But, Who or What is this Sinterklaas?
Sinterklaas is a yearly folk festival in the Netherlands, Belgium and a part of Germany. The holiday is based on folklore figure Saint Nicholas of Myra. In the Dutch tradition the Saint and his help Zwarte Piet are visiting The Netherlands coming all the way from Spain. Arriving mid-november and leaving after December 5th; he and his helps are visiting children leaving gifts in their shoes. On December 5th the official holiday is celebrated, where Sinterklaas and Piet are bringing gifts to the entire country.
